Jakob Oftebro Stars As Hamilton In Spy Thriller

C More has announced that Jakob Oftebro (Kon-Tiki) will star in the two season origin story of Swedish spy legend Hamilton as a younger man.
The reboot of Jan Guillou’s beloved books, which have previously starred Stellan Skarsgard, Peter Haber and Mikael Persbrandt, will introduce Carl Hamilton on his first mission in Europe, set in the present day against a backdrop of rising tensions between the US and Russia.
Jakob Oftebro said: “The story of Carl Hamilton is both spectacular and exciting, but he is also an extremely complex person. It is tempting to show another side of such a well-known story remains obscured, how he was recruited to the intelligence service before becoming the master agent and hero that the viewers are used to seeing.”
Jan Guillou added: “Agent Carl Hamilton has been a part of my life for the past 30 years and several movies about him have been made. But I’ve always known that a drama series, with its longer format and narrative, would be a great way to dig deeper into the character and his universe.”
“It’s happening now with a new, young Hamilton, in a contemporary environment, and I’m convinced that the series will appeal to a new generation of viewers.”
Hamilton, written by Petter S Rosenlund (The Heavy Water War) and directed by Kasper Barfoed (Below The Surface), will premiere on C More in 2019 then air later on TV4.
