Joachim Trier’s Thelma Tops Amanda Nominations

On Wednesday, the nominees were revealed for the 2018 Amanda Awards, which celebrates the achievements of Norwegian cinema. The winners will be announced during the 46th Norwegian Film Festival in Haugesund on Saturday 18th August in a ceremony hosted by Henriette Steenstrup and John Brungot.
Joachim Trier’s supernatural thriller Thelma received the highest number of nominations with twelve to equal last year’s record-breaking The King’s Choice by Erik Poppe, who returned this year with seven nominations for his chilling real-time account of the 2011 terrorist attack in U – July 22.
Meanwhile, Harald Zwart’s The 12th Man, based on the true story of Jan Baalsrud’s daring escape from the Nazis in World War II, was Norway’s most popular film in the last year with 640,000 tickets sold, but collected just three production based nominations.
