Joel Kinnaman Joins Killing Star For Hanna Adaptation

Joel Kinnaman (Easy Money) is to reunite with Mireille Enos, his co-star from the US version of The Killing, in Amazon’s high-concept thriller Hanna, based on Joe Wright’s hit movie from 2011.
Kinnaman, who currently stars in Altered Carbon on Netflix, plays Erik, a hardened soldier and mercenary who has spent the past 15 years raising his daughter Hanna (Esme Creed-Miles) in the remote forests of northern Poland.
Isolated from the world, Erik has devoted his life to teaching Hanna survival techniques to keep her safe. But his teenage daughter has outgrown her confines and seeks freedom from the haven he has created for her.
Meanwhile, Mireille Enos plays Marissa, a ruthless agent who is haunted by a dark secret that the reappearance of Hanna and her father threatens to expose.
Series writer and co-writer of the original film, David Farr, said: “It has the visceral excitement of a genuine conspiracy thriller but also the simple humanity of a rites of passage drama. Hanna is in a very unusual family. She’s a very special teenager. But all teenagers think they’re abnormal. She’s just a little more abnormal than most.”
Hanna, directed by Sarah Adina Smith, begins filming this March in Hungary, Slovakia, Spain and the UK.
