Kristoffer Joner On The Run In Maskineriet

Viaplay has announced Maskineriet (Machinery), an eight part action thriller set in the borderlands between Sweden and Norway, starring Kristoffer Joner (The Wave) as an ordinary man who finds himself on the run.

Olle Hultén (Kristoffer Joner) is a regular family man who wakes up on the car ferry between Sandefjord and Strömstad after a work conference. He remembers nothing, but finds a bag filled with cash, a gun and a balaclava next to him. He must find out what happened and why, before the police catch him.

The more his family and friends learn about Ollle’s past, the more they begin to suspect that he is not as innocent as he claims. Olle is forced to leave everything behind in pursuit of the truth while desperately trying to hide who he really is – and what he fled from years ago.

The cast includes Swedish actors Hanna Alström, Anastasios Soulis, Jakob Eklund and Angela Kovacs, alongside big Norwegian names such as Julia Schacht, Rune Temte and Björn Sundquist.

SVP of Viaplay Originals, Fredrik Ljungberg, said: “Maskineriet is a unique series in its genre that offers a level of tension that we have not seen before in a Nordic series. With a real dream team both in front of and behind the camera, we really look forward to offering our viewers this extremely exciting series in 2020.”

Director, Richard Holm, added: “What sets Maskineriet apart from other series is the realistic tone. You won’t find heroes or villains like you might be used to. Nothing is black or white. This is about ordinary people being put under extreme pressure and finding themselves in situations where everything is at stake… Think Jason Bourne but with the realism of Nobel.”
