Lukas Moodysson Comedy Gösta Set For HBO Nordic

HBO Nordic has announced that its first Swedish original series will be Gösta, an eight-part comedy drama written and directed by Lukas Moodysson (Show Me Love), about a child psychologist who moves from the city to a small rural town.

Gösta is a 28-year-old child psychologist who gets his first job at BUP in a small town in Småland. He moves from Stockholm and hires a cabin in the middle of the forest. He wants to be the world’s kindest man and help everyone he meets. Sometimes it goes well, sometimes less well…

Lukas Moodysson said: “I want Gösta to be a mix of comedy and Dostoevsky: as funny as possible and as serious as possible.”

VP of Original Programming for HBO Nordic, Hanne Palmquist, added: “Gosta’ is an insightful, fun, multifaceted and bittersweet story that says a lot about the time we are living in, in a way only Lukas can say it.”

Gösta begins filming next year in Småland, and will premiere on HBO Nordic in 2019.
