Margrete – Queen Of The North Drops Teaser

A short teaser trailer has been released for epic period drama Margrete – Queen of the North, directed by Charlotte Sieling (The Bridge) and starring Trine Dyrholm as Margrete the First who united Denmark, Norway and Sweden in peaceful union.
The year is 1402. Margrete (Trine Dyrholm) has achieved what no man has managed before. She has brought Denmark, Norway and Sweden together into a peaceful kingdom known as the Kalmar Union, which she rules through her young, adopted son, Erik.
However, the union is beset by enemies, and so Margrete plans a marriage between Erik and Philippa of Lancaster, the daughter of King Henry IV. An alliance with England should secure the union’s status as an emerging European power but a conspiracy is underway that could tear Margrete apart along with all that she believes in.
The cast also includes Søren Malling (The Killing), Morten Hee Andersen (Ride Upon The Storm), Jakob Oftebro (Monster), Bjørn Floberg (Out Stealing Horses), Magnus Krepper (Queen Of Hearts), Thomas W. Gabrielsson (A Royal Affair) and Agnes Rase (Midsommar).
Producers Birgitte Skov and Lars Bredo Rahbek said: “We are immensely proud soon to be able to present Charlotte Sieling’s Margrete – Queen of the North. We think we are breaking new ground. A grand period movie helmed by a female director with such high ambitions is a rarity in Scandinavian film. Let’s hope this is a new direction and the shape of things to come.”
Margrete – Queen of the North is slated for a theatrical release in Denmark in Autumn 2021.
