Netflix Backs Rojda Sekersöz Coming Of Age Drama

Netflix has announced an as yet untitled six-part coming of age drama about love and friendship among the privileged students of a prestigious Swedish boarding school. Rojda Sekersöz (Beyond Dreams) will direct.
When Prince Wilhelm arrives at the boarding school he finally gets an opportunity to explore his true self and find out what kind of life he really wants. He begins to dream of a future filled with freedom and unconditional love, but when he becomes next in line to the throne he is forced to choose between love and duty.
Lead writer, Lisa Ambjörn, said: When “Megxit” hit the UK, just months after Prince Carl Philip commented that his children now would have the opportunity to create their own future when the Swedish royal house narrowed down – I realized that we really put our finger on a burning hot topic.”
“I am proud to be part of this brave team who doesn’t shy away from a grand story of heritage, honor, class and tradition. Do we become the one we want to be or the one we are expected to be? With this coming of age drama, I want to challenge and entertain, and most importantly, take our young audience seriously.”
Director, Rojda Sekersöz, added: “This is the kind of show I would binge watch myself since it captures all the ingredients that make a drama interesting; class, love, loyalty, power. I love digging into specific worlds and this is a very exciting world for me as a director to explore and shape.”
This untitled drama is set to premiere worldwide on Netflix in 2021.
