Netflix has announced that Borgen – Power & Glory (Borgen – Riget, Magten og Æren), a stand alone fourth season of the critically acclaimed political thriller starring Sidse Babett Knudsen, will premiere next month in the Nordic countries and worldwide in June.
Birgitte Nyborg (Sidse Babett Knudsen) is the newly appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs when a drilling company suddenly discovers oil in Greenland. An event that marks the beginning of an international struggle for power in the Arctic, and one in which Nyborg, the otherwise experienced politician, must accept that despite Denmark’s big brother relationship with Greenland, when it comes to the international superpowers it is Denmark that is the minor player.
Meanwhile, Birgitte Nyborg’s former press secretary, Katrine Fønsmark (Birgitte Hjort Sørensen), is back in journalism and has landed a job as head of the news department for a nationwide television station. Through the trials of both Nyborg and Fønsmark we witness the struggle for power and what it does to people, both at a professional and personal level.
The cast also includes Mikkel Boe Følsgaard, Nivi Pedersen, Svend Hardenberg, Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen, Søren Malling, Signe Egholm Olsen, Mikael Birkkjær, Lisbeth Wulff, Lars Mikkelsen, Laura Allen Müller Smith, Jens Albinus, Lars Knutzon, Peter Mygind, Morten Kirkskov and Angunnguaq Larsen.
Borgen – Power & Glory premiered last month on DR1 in Denmark but will premiere on Netflix in the Nordic countries on 14th April and the rest of the world on 2nd June.
