Norskov Picked Up By Walter Presents For The UK

Danish crime drama Norskov, which set a record for TV2’s online platform, has been picked up by Walter Presents for its UK based foreign language drama strand. It has not been announced whether it will be broadcast on Channel 4 or More4, or whether it will be available on demand only.
Norskov is a police drama that takes place in an industrial city in northern Denmark. The city is raw and unsentimental, and the financial crisis has left its mark, but there is still a lot of community spirit and empowerment.
In the series we follow the policeman Tom Noack, who returns to the city he left almost 20 years ago, and his two childhood friends who in the meantime have become the mayor and primary contractor.
Tom’s brother, Martin, is the mayor of Norskov and is in charge of a large-scale port project. However, Norskov is plagued by drug problems among the city’s youth and when a young girl is found unconscious the scandal threatens to stand in the way of the mayor’s plans.
Tom is hired to clean up the city’s streets from drugs, but the case quickly becomes personal when Tom’s childhood sweetheart Diana and her son, Oliver, come under the spotlight. As Tom expands the investigation, it turns out that he might be on the trail of a major trafficking ring.
Along the way, it becomes harder and harder for Tom to balance his professional work with the personal relationships that he has resumed in Norskov. He is forced to keep secrets from those he loves: sister Jackie, his childhood friend, his mother and his brother. As the case develops so does the personal intrigue.
Norskov has also been sold to Poland, Benelux (Lumiere) and France/Germany (Arte).
