Norwegian Monster Picked Up By Starz For The US

Seven-part Norwegian crime thriller Monster, which won the European Script Award last week and has been nominated for the Prix Europa, has been picked up by premium cable service Starz in the US.
In Monster, Joel Dreyer (Jakob Oftebro) is sent from Oslo to a remote religious community in Finnmark after the disappearance of a young girl, where he collaborates with local investigator Hedda Gilbert (Ingvild Holthe Bygdnes). Their personalities immediately clash and, as the case begins to spiral out of control, the investigators resort to questionable methods as they fight their own demons.
SVP at international distributor DRG, Scott Kirkpatrick. told Variety: “With some of Norway’s most established and respected talent behind the scenes, coupled with fresh new on-screen talent and a darker twist on the more usual Nordic Noir content, ‘Monster’ has been piquing interest ever since it went into production.”
Monster premieres 10th October on NRK in Norway, but will also air on DR in Denmark, SVT in Sweden, SBS in Australia, Canal+ in France, RTS in Switzerland, Spike in Russia, and will be available on demand through Viaplay in Scandinavia.
