Danish actor Ole Thestrup (Borgen) passed away at home during the early hours of this morning surrounded by his family. He was 69 years old.
The award-winning stage and screen actor, perhaps best known overseas as Svend Åge Saltum in Borgen and as Julius Andersen in Badehotellet, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of lung cancer in spring 2017.
Last month he wrote on Facebook: “Dear everyone, colleagues and friends and family, I am closing my Facebook profile tonight, not because I’m approaching the end, but because I want peace and quiet to fight my own fight against cancer.”
“When I’m out on the other side, good or bad, hopefully the good, then I’ll start a new profile. Thank you for now.”
Ole Thestrup leaves behind his wife Hanne Marie Thestrup and three daughters.
