Oscars Shortlists Denmark, Finland, Iceland & Norway

Fifteen films have been shortlisted from the ninety-two submissions for Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards, including Flee (Denmark), Compartment No 6 (Finland), Lamb (Iceland) and The Worst Person In The World (Norway).

Competition comes from Great Freedom (Austria), Playground (Belgium), Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom (Bhutan), I’m Your Man (Germany), A Hero (Iran), The Hand Of God (Italy), Drive My Car (Japan), Hive (Kosovo), Prayers For The Stolen (Mexico), Plaza Catedral (Panama) and The Good Boss (Spain).

Academy members from all branches are invited to opt in and participate in voting for the final five nominations but must view all fifteen shortlisted films in order to be counted. The final five nominees will be revealed on 8th February 2022.

The 94th Academy Awards will be presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences during a gala ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday 27th March 2022.

Starring: Seidi Haarla, Yuriy Borisov

Set against the backdrop of 1980s Soviet Union, this film follows a young Finnish woman who flees a love triangle to take the Trans Siberian Railway. She is forced to share her journey with a Russian miner who hates the world, but the long journey brings them closer and changes their perspective on life.


Lamb | Dýrið
Directed by Valdimar Jóhansson
Starring: Noomi Rapace, Hilmir Snaer Gudnason

A dark and atmospheric folk tale about a childless couple who live on a remote sheep farm. When they discover a mysterious newborn on their farmland, they decide to keep it and raise it as their own, but while their new family brings them much joy, it ultimately destroys them as they face the consequences of defying the will of nature.


The Worst Person In The World | Verdens verste menneske

Julie is approaching 30 years old and in a long-term relationship with Aksel. But Julie is struggling to find a direction in life so leaves Aksel in the hope of something meaningful. However, a year later she learns that he has become seriously ill so visits him in hospital where a new honesty emerges.
