Out Stealing Horses Wins Five Amanda Awards

Out Stealing Horses led the field with five honours, including Best Film and Best Director, when the winners were revealed for this year’s Amanda Awards at the 47th Norwegian Film Festival in Haugesund on Saturday.

Directed by Hans Petter Moland, Out Stealing Horses stars Stellan Skarsgård as a grieving widower who moves to the country where a chance encounter rekindles memories from his past. Its haul of five awards comprises Best Film, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Cinematography and Best Original Score.

Pia Tjelta was named Best Actress for Tuva Novotny’s directorial debut feature Blind Spot in which she plays a mother struggling to understand her daughter’s mental health crisis. Meanwhile, Tobias Santelmann won Best Actor for The Congo Murders, based on the true story of two men convicted of murdering their chauffeur.
