Pål Sverre Hagen Plays Explorer Roald Amundsen

Pål Sverre Hagen (Valkyrien) will play legendary Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen in a forthcoming biopic written by Ravn Lanesskog (Birkebeinerne) and directed by Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki), entitled Amundsen.
Roald Amundsen was the first to reach the South Pole on 14th December 1911, thirty-four days ahead of British explorer Robert F Scott. These scenes will be captured in Iceland, where filming began this week, before production moves on to the Czech Republic, Oslo and his hometown of Svartskog.
The cast includes Christian Rubeck (Max Manus) as Amundsen’s brother Leon Amundsen, Ruby Dagnall (Skam) as Leon Amundsen’s wife Aline, and Ida Ursin-Holm (The Lion Woman) as Kiss Bennet, one of Roald Amundsen’s greatest loves.
Producer Kristian Strand Sinkerud said: “Everyone knows the awesome story of the race to the South Pole and how it ends, but few people know the story of Roald Amundsen himself. After more than four years of research work, we have discovered several unknown aspects of his life that we look forward to sharing with the audience.”
Amundsen is slated to premiere February 2019.
