Petra Mede To Host Guldbagge Awards For Fifth Time

It has been announced that Petra Mede is to host the 52nd Guldbagge Gala at Cirkus in Stockholm on 23rd January 2017. This will be Petra’s fifth appearance at the Swedish film awards, having hosted it in 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2016.

Petra Mede caused a stir at last year’s ceremony when she demonstrated how the screen kiss has evolved throughout the ages, culminating in a passionate embrace with Best Actress Malin Levanon.

The Guldbagge Gala is the awards ceremony held by the Swedish Film Institute in recognition of outstanding contributions to the Swedish film industry made during the preceding year.

The first Guldbagge Awards were presented in September 1964, with Ingmar Bergman collecting Best Director for The Silence (Tystnaden). A full list of Guldbagge (Golden Scarab) nominees and winners throughout the years can be found in the Swedish Film Database.
