Petra Mede To Present Her Sixth Guldbagge Awards

It has been announced that the 2018 Guldbaggegalan, which recognises outstanding achievements in the Swedish film industry, will be presented by Petra Mede (Bonus Family) for the sixth time, having previously hosted it in 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

The first Guldbagge awards took place in September 1964, with Ingmar Bergman collecting Best Director for The Silence (Tystnaden). It regularly attracts around 1.2 million viewers and, according to a YouGov poll conducted in September, Petra Mede is one of the main reasons it remains so popular.

CEO of the Swedish Film Institute, Anna Serner, notes: “I think that her sharp yet warm sense of humour makes both the television audience and gala guests feel equally at home.”

The 2018 Guldbaggegalan takes place on 22nd January at Cirkus in Stockholm. It will be broadcast live on SVT1, while SVT Play will offer five and a half hours of live coverage, beginning with the red carpet event.
