Premiere Set For Political Thriller Furia

Norwegian political thriller and Series Mania finalist Furia, created by Emmy award winner Gjermund Stenberg Eriksen, is set to premiere next month on Viaplay.
On the run from his past and with a new identity, the cop Asgeir (Pål Sverre Hagen) moves with his daughter to an idyllic small town in western Norway. A conflict at the local refugee center leads Asgeir to encounter the mysterious Ragna (Ine Marie Wilmann), who has a dire secret too. She is Furia, a far-right writer spreading dark and sinister opinions to a global audience.
After a tragic murder, Asgeir and Ragna find themselves in danger and become entangled in a web of radical right-wing groups and followers – sending them on a journey from the fjords of Norway to a Berlin preparing for Germany’s election, as politicians push polarisation and violent extremists try to radicalise, aiming to change Europe forever.
The cast also includes Trond Espen Seim (Varg Veum), Preben Hodneland (Amundsen), Cecilie Mosli (Kieler Street), Henrik Mestad (Occupied), Ulrich Noethen (Deutschland ’83) and Nina Kunzendorf (Hackerville).
Director, Magnus Martens, said: “It was the story in Furia that made me want to work in Norway again. We want to show that extremists live like other people and look ordinary, they are not crowned and do not walk the streets in uniform. This is an important topic that applies to Norway, Europe and the whole world.”
“We use suspense elements to tell an incredibly important story. It can sometimes feel brutal, but throughout we hope to convey something relevant and genuine. And we needed to visually refresh the Nordic crime genre in order to succeed. So the work has been both important and professionally interesting for me as a director.”
Furia premieres 26th September across the Nordic region on Viaplay.
