Record Wins For Beware Of Children At Amanda Awards

Winners of the 2020 Amanda Awards (Amandaprisen) were revealed at the 48th Norwegian Film Festival on Friday where Beware Of Children scooped nine awards and, in so doing, beat the previous record of eight wins set by The King’s Choice in 2017.

Beware Of Children (Barn), which traces the dramatic aftermath of a tragic event in a middle class suburb, went into the evening as the front runner and walked away with nine wins from its ten nominations, including Best Film, Best Actor for Jan Gunnar Røise, Best Supporting Actor for Thorbjørn Harr and Best Director for Dag Johan Haugerud.

Meanwhile, Maria Sødahl’s Hope (Håp) picked up just two wins from its eight nominations, including Best Actress for Andrea Bræin Hovig, for its tale of a couple’s neglected love that becomes exposed as their lives break down in the face of terminal cancer.
