Ride Upon the Storm Scoops International Sales

Distributor Studiocanal has announced several international sales for Danish drama Ride Upon The Storm (Herrens veje), written by Adam Price (Borgen), which recently won Best Drama, Best Actor and Best Actress at the Robert Awards.

Ride Upon the Storm follows a family, headed by Johannes (Lars Mikkelsen), who have been priests for more than 250 years. However, his sons are now desperate to free themselves from his tyranny, so the devout August becomes an army chaplain in the Middle East, while wayward Christian heads to Tibet.

The series will air on South Africa’s M-Net Africa, TVNZ in New Zealand, RTE in Ireland, Telefonica in Spain, Lumiere in Benelux, RTVS in Slovakia, NC+ in Poland, LRT in Lithuania and SBS Australia, along with co-producer Arte for French and German-speaking Europe.

Head of International Sales at Studiocanal, Beatriz Campos, said, “This highly-produced, intense and glossy drama plays out extremely well in the schedules of top-quality channels. Family dramas are truly universal and, with its unique setting and narrative Ride Upon the Storm is ultimately very relatable to viewers in different parts of the world.”

Ride Upon The Storm premiered on DR1 in autumn 2017 with its first ten episodes, and will return in autumn 2018 for a further ten to conclude the story.
