Sara Klein To Lead As Elvira For Viaplay

Sara Klein makes her leading debut as Denmark’s unlikeliest detective, Elvira, in an eight part offbeat drama for Viaplay based on the novels of Anne-Sophie Lunding-Sørensen.

35 years old and resolutely unambitious, Elvira Gregersen’s day job consists of answering the phone in a brothel owned by her childhood friend, police officer Køster. She would rather live a quiet life and stay in her Sydhavnen apartment but needs to take care of her drug addict twin brother Sixten, so is saving up to send him to a private detox clinic.

However, when prostitute Candy disappears, Elvira senses that there is something wrong so begins to investigate aided by Candy’s regular, Henry. As events unfold, unexpected emotions arise between the two unlikely detectives and Elvira discovers that she might be capable of achieving more than she ever could have imagined.

The cast also includes Peter Plauborg (Cry Wolf), Bodil Jørgensen (The Kingdom Exodus), Marijana Jankovic (Maja), Anton Hjejle, Morten Brovn, Claus Riis Østergaard, Tina Gylling, Frederikke Dahl Hansen, Morten Surballe, Anders Mosling, Peter Zandersen and Lila Nobel.

Sara Klein said: “I love every minute playing Elvira. She’s a completely regular unusual person just like you and me, with flaws and shortcomings, but also with a huge heart and more power than she knows. She really deserves to be the heroine of her own series! In fact, I love the whole gallery of original characters that the show presents.”

Viaplay Chief Content Officer, Filippa Wallestam, added: “This multi-layered drama plays out in an unusual setting but says something universal – either we watch life go past us or we jump right into it… Elvira is a fascinating character with a heart that’s 100% in the right place, and it feels great to share her story with audiences around the world.”

Written by Lærke Sanderhoff (The Sunfish) and Heidi Maria Faisst (The Legacy), Elvira recently began filming in Copenhagen and is slated to premiere on Viaply across the Nordic region in 2022..
