Seafaring Retro For 60th Nordic Film Days Lübeck

Nordic Film Days Lübeck has announced that this year’s 60th anniversary festival (30th October – 4th November) will feature a seafaring retrospective to accompany its rich programme of innovative cinema from Scandinavia and the Baltic countries.

Baltic Transfer – The Baltic & Northern Harbours On Film, curated by Jörg Schöning, invites the audience to discover cinematic stories about ships’ passages, love and work at the harbour, the reality of port romances, along with trade, tourism, war and migration in the 20th century.

The centrepiece is a showcase of several silent films to be accompanied by live music at Schuppen 6 on the Untertrave quayside, which includes Baldevin’s Wedding (Norway, 1926) set at the seamen’s employment office in Lübeck, and Cafe X (Norway, 1928) which explores the evil machinations in Oslo’s port neighbourhood.

The full programme of events for the 60th Nordic Film Days Lübeck (Nordische Filmtage Lübeck) will be announced on 10th October 2018.
