A second season of Acquitted (Frikjent) will premiere Autumn 2016 on TV2 in Norway, with a budget of 60 million kroner.
Series writers Siv Rajendram Eliassen and Anna Bache-Wiig say that are well in to the writing process:
“We have been working on season two of Frikjent for over a year, so of course we are incredibly happy that it is finally going into production. It is always exciting when actors and directors are beginning to grasp the material, and the universe comes to life. There are many secrets to reveal in the new season and the aim is that it should be at least as good as the first – if not better.”
TV2 Head Of Drama, Christopher Haug says: “Development of season two of Frikjent has shown that its story is by no means complete, it has grown on us and we are fully confident this season will be even better than season one. If you liked season one then you will love season two… We look forward to offering yet another quality drama.”
After a record breaking opening in Norway for a drama series on TV2 (660,000 viewers), Acquitted had a 30.5 % share with 1,038,000 Swedish viewers when it premiered on SVT1, making it a five year record for a Nordic TV series on SVT.
UK viewers can see the first season via the new Channel 4 venture Walter Presents which launches in January 2016.
