Sofia Helin Is Princess Märtha In Atlantic Crossing

NRK has announced that Sofia Helin (The Bridge) will play Crown Princess Märtha of Norway in eight-part WWII drama Atlantic Crossing (Alt for Norge).

Atlantic Crossing is an inspiring story of how Crown Princess Märtha of Norway escaped from Nazi occupation to become an influential figure in world politics, living in the White House and determined to convince President Roosevelt to join the war.

Director Alexander Eik previously said: “The Crown Princess’ flight from Norway took her to the epicentre of world power, the White House… Here she realises, for the first time, that she has real political influence, and becomes an informal, but central figure in Washington’s political scene.”

Sofia Helin adds: “This is an amazing but untold story about a woman who made a difference. So far, there has been no place for the female perspective in stories told about the Second World War. Now it’s about time these stories were told.”

Atlantic Crossing begins production this December in the Czech Republic, and moves on to Norway in February. It is slated to premiere on NRK in 2021.
