Spring Tide Beats The Bridge In Ratings Smackdown

The premiere of Spring Tide (Springfloden) on Sunday attracted 1,528,000 viewers to SVT for a 36.8%, share of the available audience. These numbers even outshine season 3 of The Bridge which opened with 1,489,000 viewers last autumn.
Spring Tide is a ten part thriller by Rolf and Cilla Börjlind’s (Beck, Arne Dahl) adapted from their own best selling book. A homeless former detective (Kjell Bergqvist) and an aspiring police officer (Julia Ragnarsson) join forces to solve a cold case in which a pregnant woman was buried alive on a beach on North Koster Island.
So far the reviews have been positive…
Johanna Hagström, Göteborg Posten
“The directors work with a hot filter that creates the sense of a feverish summer of murder… (Viewers) are rewarded with an exciting and not too obvious crime drama, where the common denominator for the characters is loneliness, which is like a cold, blue tone against the hot summer sun.”
Karolina Fjellborg, Aftonbladet
“Spring Tide is begging to be compared to The Bridge. The similarities are substantial – the initial bestial murder, the blunt and pushy heroine… the parallel story threads that are slowly woven together… Although it’s not quite in the same class at the end, Spring Tide has the potential to become Sweden’s deputy forensic obsession.”
