Stellan Skarsgård Set For HBO Drama Chernobyl

Stellan Skarsgård (River) will star alongside Jared Harris (Mad Men) in five-part HBO / Sky co-production Chernobyl, written by Craig Mazin (The Huntsman: Winter’s War) and directed by Johan Renck (The Last Panthers).

Chernobyl follows Soviet nuclear physicist Valerij Legasov (Harris), who was appointed by the Kremlin to investigate the catastrophic nuclear power station disaster of 1986. It will reveal how and why it happened, and tell the remarkable stories of those who risked their lives to save others.

President of HBO Miniseries, Kary Antholis, said: “From the moment Craig Mazin pitched us the story, we were convinced that this all-too-true tale of horror and redemption needed to be told. It will engage – and enrage – our viewers, as well as audiences around the world.”

Chernobyl begins filming in Lithuania from March through until August 2018.
