Sven Nordin To Star As Detective William Wisting

Sven Nordin (Valkyrien) will star in Viaplay’s forthcoming crime drama Wisting, based on Jørn Lier Horst’s William Wisting novels which have been translated into 30 languages and sold over 1.2 million copies in Norway alone.

Empathetic, meticulous and relentless – the only thing to escape Larvik detective William Wisting in his hunt for Norway’s most notorious criminals is a happy family life. And when two mysterious deaths interrupt Wisting’s Christmas, it is the beginning of a showdown with the deadliest killer of them all.

Sven Nordin said in a statement: “Wisting is a complex and exciting character and I am very excited to play him. I am a great admirer of Jørn Lier Horst and it is with great humility and joy that I look forward to this role.”

The ten-part first season, written by Trygve Allister Diesen (The Third Eye) and Katrine Valen Zeiner (Eyewitness) will be based on the novels The Hunting Dogs and The Caveman, and has a budget of NOK 110 million.

Wisting begins filming January 2018. It will premiere exclusively on Nordic video streaming service Viaplay in Spring 2019, and then air later on TV3.
