Sverrir Gudnason To Lead Girl In The Spider’s Web

Sverrir Gudnason (Borg/McEnroe) will play Mikael Blomquist opposite Claire Foy (The Crown) as Lisbeth Salander in the movie adaptation of The Girl In The Spider’s Web by David Lagercrantz, which picks up the story from Stieg Larsson’s original Millennium trilogy.

In the novel, Salander becomes the target of ruthless cyber gangsters, and a violent criminal conspiracy brings terror to the snowbound streets of Stockholm, to the Millennium team, and to Blomkvist and Salander themselves.

Gudnason and Foy are joined by Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049) as Lisbeth Salander’s twin sister, and the villain will be played by Claes Bang (The Square), who is nominated for Best Actor at the 30th European Film Awards in Berlin this Saturday.

The Girl In The Spider’s Web, adapted by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) and directed by Fede Alvarez, begins production in January in Berlin and Stockholm, and is set for a theatrical release on October 19th 2018.
