Temple Remake Of Valkyrien Heads To Sky

Sky has announced that Temple, a darkly comic remake of Norwegian thriller Valkyrien written by Mark O’Rowe (Boy A), begins production in September with Mark Strong (Grimsby) and Daniel Mays (Line Of Duty) set to star.

Driven by personal tragedy, surgeon Daniel (Mark Strong) has set up an illegal clinic in an abandoned network of tunnels beyond Temple tube station to treat anyone who needs medical help outside of the system and can pay for it.

Aided by disgruntled transport worker Lee (Daniel Mays) and guilt-ridden medical researcher Anna (Carice van Houten), they treat increasingly desperate and highly dangerous patients, as Daniel is tested to his moral limit.

Mark Strong said: “Mark O’Rowe has created a complex and multi-faceted character in Daniel – a man pushed to the extreme as his world is radically destabilised. Temple is a gripping and humane morality tale for our time.”

Executive Producer for Sky, Gabriel Silver, added: “We at Sky fell in love with its blackly comic streak and the morally compromised characters working in their own secret realm beneath London… I know that the audience will be treated to an unflinching, hilarious and very human story.”

Temple will air on Sky One and streaming service NOW TV in the UK and Ireland during 2019.
