2011. Returning Series
The Bridge follows the joint efforts of Danish and Swedish police officers to solve murders that take place along the border of the two countries.
In the first series, when a woman’s body is found on a bridge connecting Sweden and Denmark, inevitable questions are raised regarding which of the two nations has jurisdiction over the crime and should lead the subsequent investigation.
A compromise is reached involving law officers from both Malmö and Copenhagen, the affected cities. Saga Norén (Sofia Helin) and Martin Rohde (Kim Bodnia) will have to put their differences aside and work together if they are to put an end to the designs of a brutal and calculating killer.
In the second series, 13 months since they last worked together, Swedish detective Norén and Danish detective Rohde pair up again when a ship crashes into the Oresund Bridge. The vessel is empty except for five kidnap victims and when they die from pneumonic plague the case turns into a murder investigation.
Saga and Martin learn that eco-terrorists are responsible for the incident and soon further attacks occur. Can the duo find the culprits before more victims are taken? Meanwhile, Martin has been trying to adjust to life after suffering the loss of a loved one but some devastating news from his wife motivates him to seek revenge…
In season three, when a famous Danish gender activist and owner of Copenhagen’s first gender-neutral children’s nursery is found murdered in Malmö, Saga is assigned to the case, together with a new colleague. The murder sparks the beginning of a series of spectacular crimes reaching back into Saga’s own past.
With her career at risk, and the question of personal responsibility haunting her, it looks as if Saga might be pulled from the case. When her mother unexpectedly re-enters her life, Saga must also cope with unforeseen – and unwanted – demands from her.
