Eternal Road Dominates 2018 Jussi Awards

In Helsinki on Friday, AJ Annila’s period drama The Eternal Road (Ikitie), starring Tommi Korpela, dominated the 2018 Jussi Awards with six wins including Best Film and Best Director.
Set in 1930, The Eternal Road follows a trade union activist who flees to the relative safety of the Soviet Union, and where his future looks bright until Stalin’s regime grows suspicious of foreigners. Alongside Best Film and Best Director, it’s prize haul included Best Supporting Actor for Hannu-Pekka Björkman and Best Supporting Actress for Sidse Babett Knudsen.
Meanwhile, Aku Louhimies’ box office sensation The Unknown Soldier (Tuntematon sotilas), which has sold over a million tickets in Finland so far, was presented with the Audience Award and four Jussi awards, including Best Actor for Eero Aho.
