The Fencer Crowned Best Film At 2016 Jussi Awards

The winners of the 2016 Jussi Awards (Finnish Film Awards) were announced in Helsinki on Saturday 19th March at a gala presented by actors Maria Ylipää and Ilkka Villi.

Best Film and Best Cinematography were awarded to The Fencer, which was shortlisted for Best Foreign Language Film at this year’s Academy Awards, and became the first Finnish film in 58 years to be nominated for a Golden Globe.

The other big winners for the night were Distractions with three awards including Best Director and Best Actor, and The Midwife which picked up Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor.
