The Guilty Shortlisted For Academy Award

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that Gustav Möller’s The Guilty (Den skyldige), has been shortlisted for Best Foreign Language Film at the 91st Academy Awards ahead of final nominations in January.

The Guilty finds a police officer expecting a sleepy shift as an emergency dispatcher when he answers a call from a kidnapped woman. Confined to the police station, he is forced to use others as his eyes and ears to find her as his personal demons conspire against him.

Also included on the shortlist for Best Foreign Language Film are Birds of Passage (Colombia), Never Look Away (Germany) Shoplifters (Japan), Ayka (Kazakhstan), Capernaum (Lebanon), Roma (Mexico), Cold War (Poland), and Burning (South Korea).

Meanwhile, Ali Abbasi’s supernatural romance Border (Gräns) has been shortlisted for Best Make-Up & Styling against Black Panther, Bohemian Rhapsody, Mary Queen of Scots, Stan & Ollie, Suspiria and Vice.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will announce its final five nominees for each category on 22nd January, with the Oscars taking place at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on 24th February 2019.
