The Paradise Takes Nordic Noir To The Mediterranean

Spain’s Mediapro is to join forces with Finnish broadcaster YLE to produce The Paradise, which will take Nordic noir south to the Mediterranean. The series is written by Matti Laine (Bordertown).

The Paradise is a thriller set among the Finnish community living in Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol, the largest group of Scandinavians outside Scandinavia. Their peaceful existence is set to be interrupted by a series of crimes which can only be resolved by the collaboration of Finnish and Spanish police forces.

YLE’s is no stranger to successful co-productions and its most recent project, Bordertown, attracted a 26% audience share when it premiered in Finland. Meanwhile, Mediapro’s co-productions include Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Midnight In Paris, and The Young Pope starring Jude Law.
