C More and TV4 have ordered a seventh season of The Sandhamn Murders (Morden i Sandhamn), starring Alexandra Rapaport as Nora Linde, which comprises four original stories based on the characters from Viveca Sten’s novels.
The new films mark a departure in the franchise in that the characters’ lives and stories have begun to diverge from the novels which have sold five million copies worldwide. From this point on the characters in each medium will live their lives in parallel with stories allowing them to grow further in their own direction.
Executive producer Niva Westlin Dahl said: “Viveca Sten’s book world has been an absolutely invaluable foundation in developing the series universe. Now, as we enter our tenth year, it feels completely natural for the books and films to grow in different directions. It has created great opportunities and new fuel for continuing both the books and films.”
Viveca Sten added: “It has always been extremely exciting to see my beloved Sandhamn come to life on TV… It is the highest form of flattery that my books are not only filmed but also inspire original stories that can be seen all over the world.”
Season seven of The Sandhamn Murders is currently filming in Sandhamn and is expected to premiere on C More and TV4 in 2020.
