Tom Hanks Takes The Lead In A Man Called Ove

Tom Hanks will star in the Hollywood remake of A Man Called Ove (En man som heter Ove), based on the novel by Fredrik Backman, which was nominated for two Oscars earlier this year.
In En man som heter Ove, Rolf Lassgård plays the block’s grumpy old man who has been deposed as president of the condominium association, but continues to rule over the neighbourhood with an iron fist.
Ove eventually gives up and resolves to commit suicide, but his attempts are interrupted by needy neighbours, and when pregnant Parvaneh and her family move into the house opposite an unexpected friendship develops.
The Swedish original, directed by Hannes Holm, was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Make-Up & Hairstyling at this year’s Academy Awards, has won three Guldbagge Awards, and was named Best Comedy at the 2016 European Film Awards.
