Viaplay has revealed a teaser for ten-part thriller The Lawyer (Advokaten), which stars Alexander Karim (Johan Falk) as a talented defence lawyer with a strong moral compass who is hell-bent on revenge.
The Lawyer follows the dangerous descent of Swedish defence lawyer Frank Nordling (Alexander Karim) into the Copenhagen underworld. When he discovers that the firm’s most important client is responsible for the murder of his parents when he was just a child, Nordling is drawn into a life-threatening web of violence and revenge.
Director Geir Henning Hopland (Acquitted) said: “The Lawyer is a thriller, a revenge drama that aims to keep the audience on the edge of their seat. The thrill is almost unbearable as Frank and his sister Sarah fight to discover why their parents were brutally murdered.”
“They want revenge and try to solve the mystery with a cool head – but beneath their calm exterior, the façade is beginning to crumble. It’s this duality that keeps us interested in their destiny.”
The series is written by Jens Lapidus (Easy Money), Hans Rosenfeldt (The Bridge) and Michael Hjorth (The Fjällbacka Murders). The cast includes Malin Buska (Easy Money) as Frank’s sister and police officer Sarah, Thomas Bo Larsen (Follow the Money) as gang boss Waldman, and Nikolaj Kopernikus (The Killing) as Frank’s boss, Sven-Erik Wisén.
The Lawyer will premiere at the beginning of 2018 on Viaplay across the Nordic region, and on TV3 in Sweden and Denmark.
