What Will People Say Scoops Amanda Awards

At the 46th Norwegian Film Festival in Haugesund on Saturday, winners of this year’s Amandaprisen were revealed during a gala ceremony hosted by Henriette Steenstrup and John Brungot.

Joachim Trier’s supernatural thriller Thelma received the highest number of nominations with twelve to equal last year’s record-breaking The King’s Choice by Erik Poppe, who returned this year with seven nominations for his chilling real-time account of the 2011 terrorist attack in U – July 22.

However, the dominant force on the night was What Will People Say, directed by Iram Haq, which took four major awards: Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actor.

Erik Poppe’s U – July 22 didn’t quite live up to its bevy of nominations but did claim Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, while Joachim Trier’s Thelma reaped rewards only in the technical categories of Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Music.
