Yellow Bird To Adapt Nordic Drama For The US

Yellow Bird, best known for hits such as the Millenium trilogy and Wallander, has launched Yellow Bird US, headed by producer Marianne Gray (Occupied). Among its first projects are English language adaptations of novels The 7 Keys by Åsa Schwartz and The End by Mats Strandberg.

The 7 Keys follows IT professional Rebecka, one of seven people holding a key to the Internet. But when she wakes with a gun to her head, and each of the other key holders are attacked in turn, Rebecka feels compelled to go underground to solve the mystery.

Meanwhile, The End is a YA story about two lonely young people living in a world on borrowed time. A tragedy ties them together and the surrounding mystery grows into a mutual obsession, but can they find the answers before the sky is set aflame and the oceans evaporate?

Marianne Gray told Deadline: “Following the launch of Yellow Bird UK last year, the US was the natural next step. While Scandinavia is a small territory to produce in, we seem to generate internationally appealing IP and I find that many of the great American creators are looking for diverse material with varying viewpoints.”
